Biography
Steve Hely is an American television writer and producer. He began his career writing for Late Show with David Letterman and Last Call with Carson Daly, where he also served as an associate producer. He attended the Roxbury Latin School and Harvard University, serving two terms as president of the Harvard Lampoon.
Hely has written for American Dad! (2005–2021), 30 Rock (2010), The Office (2011–2012) and Veep (2017–2019). He is co-creator of the animated series Common Side Effects (2025). He has also written three books, including the novel How I Became a Famous Novelist (2009), which won the Thurber Prize for American Humor in 2010.
