Biography
Steven Gilborn was an American actor. Born on 15 July 1936 in New Rochelle, New York, he earned a bachelor's degree in English from Swarthmore College and a PhD in dramatic literature from Stanford University. He taught humanities at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, the University of California, Berkeley, and Columbia University before beginning his acting career in the 1970s.
Gilborn appeared in numerous films and television series. His film credits include Doctor Dolittle (1998) as Dr. Sam Litvack, The Brady Bunch Movie (1995) as Mr. Phillips, Alien Resurrection (1997) as Father (voice), and Evolution (2001) as Judge Guilder. On television he played roles in series including The Wonder Years, Malcolm in the Middle, ER, The West Wing, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Law & Order. He also worked extensively in theatre.
Gilborn was married to photographer Karen Halverson. He died on 2 January 2009 in North Chatham, New York, aged 72.
