Biography
Stijn Van der Veken is a Belgian cinematographer and member of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) and the Belgian Society of Cinematographers (SBC). He graduated from the Institut des Arts de Diffusion (IAD) film school in Belgium and began his career as a camera assistant before working as director of photography on Belgian television documentaries and drama series, including In Flanders Fields, The Emperor of Taste, Wolven and Quiz Me Quick.
Van der Veken has served as cinematographer on the television series Outlander (seasons 4, 5 and 8), SAS Rogue Heroes (2022 and later seasons), Four Weddings and a Funeral (2019 miniseries), Willow (2022) and Talamasca: The Secret Order (2025). His feature and short film credits include Death of a Shadow (2012), which was shortlisted for an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film, and Many Heavens (2017). He has received two wins and nominations including for the Astria Award for Best Cinematography.
