Biography
Svend Abrahamsen is a Danish producer and writer. Born in Copenhagen on 19 May 1947, he began his career writing and directing in the 1970s, including the short film Vi er både rigtig og kloge (1975). During the 1980s he directed several productions for DR's television theatre.
Abrahamsen has held senior production roles at DR and the Nordisk Film & TV Fund. He was executive producer on the television series The Kingdom (1994–1997) and its sequel. In 1998 he served as co-producer on Thomas Vinterberg's The Celebration and as producer for DR TV on Lars von Trier's The Idiots. He has contributed as producer, executive producer or consultant to numerous Danish features and co-productions.
