Biography
Sydney Bromley (also credited as Sidney Bromley or Sidney Charles Bromley) was an English character actor. He appeared in more than sixty films and television programmes from the mid-1940s onwards.
Born Sidney Charles Bromley on 24 July 1909 in London, he began his career on stage. He appeared in the 1924 premiere of George Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan and in productions of A Midsummer Night's Dream and Twelfth Night at the Open Air Theatre in London in 1935. He later joined the Royal Shakespeare Company.
His film roles include the uncredited part of Johnnie, the Second Soldier in Brief Encounter (1945), the Sleigh Driver in The Fearless Vampire Killers (1967), Alf in An American Werewolf in London (1981), Engywook in The NeverEnding Story (1984), and Hodge in Dragonslayer (1981). He died on 14 August 1987 in Worthing, Sussex.
