Biography
Sylvia Ingemarsson (also credited as Sylvia Ingemarsdotter) is a Swedish film editor. Born on 10 May 1949 in Väse, Värmland, she moved to Stockholm at the age of 16 and began working in the film industry as an assistant editor before training at Sveriges Television.
Her first major theatrical credit was editing Bo Widerberg’s Man on the Roof (1976). She went on to edit thirteen of Ingmar Bergman’s productions, beginning with Autumn Sonata (1978) and including Fanny and Alexander (1982, both theatrical and television versions), After the Rehearsal (1984) and Saraband (2003). She also edited films such as Package Tour (1980), Snowroller (1985) and Faithless (2000).
Ingemarsson helped found the Swedish Film Editors’ guild. From around 2000 she worked primarily in education, serving as a professor of moving image production at Dalarna University and lecturing at the Norwegian Film School.
