Biography

T. P. McKenna was an Irish actor. Born Thomas Patrick McKenna in Mullagh, County Cavan, he made his stage debut in 1954 in Tennessee Williams's Summer and Smoke at the Pike Theatre in Dublin and later joined the Abbey Theatre company, appearing in more than seventy roles.

McKenna had an extensive career in film and television from the 1960s onwards. His credits include Straw Dogs (1971), Anne of the Thousand Days (1969), Valmont (1989) and The Libertine (2004), as well as appearances in The Avengers, Doctor Who, Inspector Morse and The Sweeney (1975), where he played Det. Supt. Grant. He died in London in 2011.
