Biography

Takeo Murata was a Japanese screenwriter and director. Born in Tokyo, he began his career as a director with films including Schoolgirl Records (1941) before focusing on screenwriting.

He co-wrote the screenplay for Godzilla (1954) with Ishirō Honda, adapting a story by Shigeru Kayama. Murata contributed screenplays to other Toho productions such as Godzilla Raids Again (1955), Half Human (1955) and Rodan (1956). He died in 1994.
