Biography
Tamara Tunie is an American actress, singer, director and producer. She was born on 14 March 1959 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, and holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Carnegie Mellon University.
She made her Broadway debut in 1981 in Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music. Tunie is known for her long-running role as Jessica Griffin in the CBS soap opera As the World Turns (1987–1995, with later returns) and as medical examiner Melinda Warner in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2000–2021). Her film credits include Wall Street (1987), The Devil's Advocate (1997) and Flight (2012).
Tunie has also directed and produced, including the feature See You in September (2010), and has worked as a stage producer on Tony Award-winning productions such as Spring Awakening.
