Biography

Tatsuo Hamada was a Japanese production designer and art director. He worked extensively with director Yasujirō Ozu from the 1930s onwards, contributing to many of the director’s films in art department roles.

His credits include production design on Tokyo Story (1953) and Good Morning (1959), and art direction on Late Spring (1949), Early Summer (1951), Equinox Flower (1958), Late Autumn (1960) and An Autumn Afternoon (1962). He died on 22 November 1983.
