Biography

Tesshō Genda, also credited as Tessyo Genda or Tesshô Genda, is a Japanese voice actor. Born on 20 May 1948 in Okayama Prefecture, he is affiliated with the talent agency 81 Produce. He debuted using his real name, Mitsuo Yokoi, as his artist name.

Genda is one of Japan's most prolific voice actors. His credits include Director Nakamura in Ghost in the Shell (1995), Kyuubi in Naruto (2002) and its sequel series, Kaido in One Piece (1999), Ryûsaku in Akira (1988), and various roles in the Dragon Ball series. He has also provided the Japanese voice for characters such as Optimus Prime in Transformers media and Batman in numerous animated productions.

In 2010 Genda received a Merit Award at the 4th Seiyu Awards. He has worked extensively in anime, video games and dubbing.
