Biography
Thad Mumford was an American television writer and producer. Born Thaddeus Quentin Mumford Jr. on 8 February 1951 in Washington, D.C., he died on 6 September 2018 in Silver Spring, Maryland. He began his career writing for children's television, including The Electric Company, for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1973. He also contributed songs and voiced a character on Sesame Street.
Mumford wrote and produced for MASH in its final three seasons, often collaborating with Dan Wilcox. His other credits include ALF, The Cosby Show, A Different World, Home Improvement, NYPD Blue and Judging Amy. He worked on both predominantly Black-cast series such as Good Times and Maude* and programmes with largely white ensembles.
