Biography
Tim Daly is an American actor, producer and director. Born James Timothy Daly on 1 March 1956 in New York City, he is the son of actors James Daly and Hope Newell, and the brother of actress Tyne Daly. He studied theatre and literature at Bennington College, graduating in 1979, and began his professional career in stage productions including a 1978 adaptation of Equus.
His first leading film role was as William 'Billy' Howard in Barry Levinson's Diner (1982). He is known for playing Joe Hackett in the NBC sitcom Wings (1990–1997), J.T. Dolan in The Sopranos (2000–2007), for which he received an Emmy nomination, and Pete Wilder in Private Practice (2007–2012). Daly has voiced Superman in Superman: The Animated Series and related films, and portrayed Henry McCord in Madam Secretary (2014–2019). He has also appeared in The Boys (2019–) and other television series.
