Biography
Tina Mabry is an American director, screenwriter and producer. Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, she graduated with an MFA in Film Production from the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts in 2005.
She began her career with the short film Brooklyn's Bridge to Jordan (2005) and co-wrote the feature Itty Bitty Titty Committee (2007). Her debut feature as writer-director, Mississippi Damned (2009), screened at multiple festivals and won awards including Best Feature Film and Best Screenplay at the Chicago International Film Festival.
Mabry has directed episodes of television series including Insecure (2017), Dear White People (2017), Pose (2018), Power (2018), 9-1-1 (2019) and Bel-Air (2022). She worked as a producer, writer and director on Queen Sugar and received a Directors Guild of America Award and an NAACP Image Award for the 2016 American Girl special Melody 1963: Love Has To Win. Her feature The Supremes at Earl's All-You-Can-Eat was released in 2024.
