Biography
Toby Oliver is an Australian cinematographer. A graduate of Swinburne University of Technology, he began his career in Australia with credits including Looking for Alibrandi (2000) and Beneath Hill 60 (2010). He is a member of the Australian Cinematographers Society.
Oliver is best known for his work as director of photography on Jordan Peele’s Get Out (2017). He has since shot further features such as Happy Death Day (2017), Insidious: The Last Key (2018), The Dirt (2019), Happy Death Day 2U (2019), Fantasy Island (2020), Day Shift (2022) and M3GAN 2.0 (2025). He divides his time between Los Angeles and Sydney and has also worked in television and documentary.
In 2017 Variety named him one of its ten cinematographers to watch. His awards include Australian Cinematographers Society Golden Tripods and an AFI Award for documentary cinematography.
