Biography
Tom Jacobson is an American film producer and former studio executive. He began his career at Roger Corman's New World Pictures, advancing from location scout to unit production manager on films including Piranha (1978). He later served as associate producer and unit production manager on Flashdance (1983) and Explorers (1985). His first credit as producer was on John Hughes's Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986).
Jacobson produced several further Hughes films, including Uncle Buck (1989) and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989). Other producing credits include The Ladykillers (2004), Mission to Mars (2000) and Mighty Joe Young (1998). He held senior executive positions at Twentieth Century Fox and Paramount Pictures, supervising numerous productions. He has also taught as an adjunct assistant professor at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.
