Biography
Tom Keene (born George Duryea; 30 December 1896 – 4 August 1963) was an American actor. He worked under three names during a career spanning silent films to the late 1950s: George Duryea until 1930, Tom Keene from 1930 until 1944, and Richard Powers thereafter, though he continued to use Tom Keene on occasion.
He studied at Columbia University and Carnegie Tech before entering films. Early roles included The Godless Girl (1929), directed by Cecil B. DeMille. He became known for leading parts in B Westerns for RKO and Poverty Row studios in the 1930s. Later supporting roles appeared in films such as Crossfire (1947), Blood on the Moon (1948), Berlin Express (1948) and Our Daily Bread (1934). His final screen appearance was as Col. Tom Edwards in Plan 9 from Outer Space (1957). He also made guest appearances on television Westerns.
