Biography
Tom Spezialy is an American television screenwriter and producer. A native of Anchorage, Alaska, he graduated from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. He began his career in 1989 writing for comedy series and went on to write and produce for shows including Parker Lewis Can't Lose, Jack & Jill and Ed. He co-developed the series Weird Science.
Spezialy is best known for his work as a writer and executive producer on Desperate Housewives (2004), Reaper (2007), The Leftovers (2014) and Watchmen (2019). His contributions to The Leftovers earned a Peabody Award, while Watchmen received multiple Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Limited Series. His work has also been recognised by the Golden Globe Awards and Writers Guild of America Awards.
