Biography
Tommy Godfrey (20 June 1916 – 24 June 1984) was an English comedian and actor. He was born in Lambeth, London, and began his career as a tap dancer in variety shows, first with his sister and then as part of the act Godfrey, Randall and Deane. He later performed as a solo comedian and appeared as principal boy in pantomimes.
Godfrey made his film debut as a bus conductor in Passport to Pimlico (1949). As a character actor he appeared in occasional films through the 1950s and 1960s, with greater success in the 1970s. His television credits included regular roles in the sitcoms On the House (1970), Love Thy Neighbour (1972–1976) and Mind Your Language (1977–1979), as well as appearances in The Avengers (1963) as Arturo, The Saint, The Persuaders! and other series. He died in London in 1984.
