Biography
Tony Mordente was an American actor, dancer, choreographer and television director. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he trained at the High School of Performing Arts and the American Ballet Theater School. He appeared in the original Broadway production of West Side Story and played Action in the 1961 film adaptation.
Mordente began directing for television in the mid-1970s. His credits include episodes of MASH, Rhoda, Family Ties, The A-Team, Matlock, Hunter, Walker, Texas Ranger and 7th Heaven*. He was married to Chita Rivera from 1957 to 1966; their daughter is actress Lisa Mordente. He died in 2024.
