Biography
Tony Thomas is an American television and film producer. Born Charles Anthony Thomas (née Jacobs) on 7 December 1948 in Hollywood, California, he is the son of entertainer Danny Thomas and the brother of actress Marlo Thomas.
He began his career as an associate producer on the television film Brian's Song (1971). In 1974 he co-founded Witt/Thomas Productions with Paul Junger Witt (later joined by Susan Harris), which produced numerous series including Soap (1977), The Golden Girls (1985), Beauty and the Beast (1987) and Blossom (1990). He served as producer on the feature film Dead Poets Society (1989), which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture, and on other films such as Final Analysis (1992), Mixed Nuts (1994) and Insomnia (2002). He has also been an executive producer on A Better Life (2011). Thomas serves on the boards of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, founded by his father.
