Biography
Tony Williamson (18 December 1932 – 19 June 1991) was a British television writer. Born in Manchester, he contributed scripts to series including The Avengers (1961) and Z-Cars (1962) from the mid-1960s onwards.
He wrote primarily for action-adventure and espionage programmes. Williamson contributed to The Avengers across several seasons, worked as script editor on Adam Adamant Lives! (1966), and wrote episodes of Department S (1969), Jason King (1971) and The Persuaders! (1971). He also wrote the screenplay for the film Night Watch (1973).
Earlier in his career he wrote for soap operas such as Coronation Street and Compact. He is credited with creating the short-lived series Intrigue and Counterstrike.
