Biography
Ulla-Britt Söderlund (12 August 1943 – 21 July 1985) was a Swedish costume designer. She studied in London and at the Copenhagen Tailoring Academy (Københavns Tilskærerakademi) in 1962–63 after completing her studentexamen in Växjö.
Her credits include Hunger (1966), The Emigrants (1971), The New Land (1972), Barry Lyndon (1975) and The Simple-Minded Murderer (1982). She collaborated with directors including Jan Troell and Stanley Kubrick, and worked on the Danish television series Matador (1978–79).
In 1976 she shared the Academy Award for Best Costume Design with Milena Canonero for Barry Lyndon. She was the first Swedish designer to win in the category and also received a British Academy Film Award nomination for the same film.
