Biography

Vasiliy Rakhals was a Russian production designer and art director in Soviet cinema. He worked as art director on Sergei Eisenstein's Strike (1925) and made an uncredited contribution to Battleship Potemkin (1925). He also collaborated on The General Line (1929).

Rakhals studied at the Odessa Art School and initially worked as a theatre artist before entering the film industry around 1915. His credits include Luch smerti (1925) and Bed and Sofa (1927). He died on 15 June 1942.
