Biography
Vaughn Everett Taylor was an American actor. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and trained at Northeastern University and the Leland Powers School of Elocution. He began his career in stock theatre and radio before serving in the US Army during the Second World War and later moving into television anthology series.
Taylor appeared in numerous films, including Jailhouse Rock (1957), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958) as Deacon Davis, Psycho (1960) as George Lowery, The Professionals (1966), In Cold Blood (1967) and The Ballad of Cable Hogue (1970). On television he had recurring guest roles in series such as The Twilight Zone, Perry Mason (eight appearances) and Bewitched. He received Emmy Award nominations for Best Actor in 1952 and 1953.
Taylor was married to actress and radio personality Ruth Moss from 1945. He retired from acting in 1976 and died in Los Angeles on 26 April 1983.
