Biography
Vernon Harris (26 February 1905 – February 1999) was a British screenwriter. Born in Folkestone, Kent, he began his career in radio at the BBC, writing for series including PC 49 and Band Waggon.
Harris frequently collaborated with director Lewis Gilbert, often serving as script editor. He wrote the screenplay for the musical film Oliver! (1968), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. His other credits as writer include Three Men in a Boat (1956), Friends (1971) and Paul and Michelle (1974). As script editor he worked on The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) and Moonraker (1979).
