Biography
Viva, born Janet Susan Mary Hoffmann, is an American actress and writer. She is also credited as Viva Auder. Born on 23 August 1938 in Syracuse, New York, she began her career as a model and painter before becoming associated with Andy Warhol's Factory scene in the late 1960s.
She appeared in numerous films, including Midnight Cowboy (1969) as Gretel McAlbertson, Lions Love (1969), Play It Again, Sam (1972) as Jennifer, Cisco Pike (1972), Forbidden Zone (1980) as Ex-Queen, The State of Things (1982) as Kate, and Paris, Texas (1984) as Woman on TV. Later credits include The Man Without a Face (1993) and archive footage in The Beaches of Agnès (2008). She has also written books, including the novel Superstar (1970).
Viva was married to video artist Michel Auder.
