Biography
Vyacheslav Aleksandrovich Ovchinnikov (Russian: Вячеслав Александрович Овчинников) was a Soviet and Russian composer and conductor. He was born on 29 May 1936 in Voronezh and died on 4 February 2019 in Moscow.
He studied at the Moscow Conservatory and composed symphonies, symphonic poems and other orchestral and chamber works. Ovchinnikov scored more than 40 films, including Ivan's Childhood (1962), Andrei Rublev (1966), War and Peace (1968) and Solaris (1972). He also worked as a conductor from the 1970s and recorded for the Melodiya label.
In 1986 he was named People's Artist of the RSFSR.
