Biography
William El-Gardi, also credited as Waleed Elgadi, is a British-Sudanese actor. Born in Khartoum, Sudan, in 1978, he moved to the United Kingdom at the age of eleven.
He studied English Literature and Philosophy at the University of Liverpool and trained at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Early in his career he performed under the stage name William El-Gardi before reverting to his birth name after a sabbatical in Sudan in 2010.
El-Gardi is known for film roles including Khalid in Four Lions (2010), Sayed in A Hologram for the King (2016), Colonel Kaveh Isfahani in Mosul (2019), Amin Mansur in One Shot (2021) and its 2024 sequel One More Shot, and Yassine in The 355 (2022). His television credits include appearances in Borgen, Tyrant, Hijack and FBI: International.
