Biography
Walter Röhrig was a German production designer and art director. He trained as a painter and stage designer in Berlin and Zurich, and was associated with the Expressionist group Der Sturm before entering film in 1919.
He is best known for his work on The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920), designed with Hermann Warm and Walter Reimann, and for his long collaboration with Robert Herlth on films including The Last Laugh (1924), Tartuffe (1925), Faust (1926) and Destiny (1921). He continued working in German cinema through the 1930s and 1940s.
Röhrig was born in Berlin on 13 April 1887 and died in Caputh on 6 December 1945.
