Biography
Wataru Mimura was a Japanese screenwriter. Born in Mie Prefecture, he graduated from the College of Art at Nihon University. He won the Sanrio Screenwriter Award in 1982, which led to work on films including Shochiku's Green Boy (1989) and other theatrical and V-Cinema projects.
Mimura wrote the screenplay for Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993) and contributed to four of the six films in Toho's Millennium Godzilla series, including Godzilla 2000: Millennium (1999), Godzilla vs. Megaguirus (2000), Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla (2002) and Godzilla: Final Wars (2004). He also wrote the screenplay for Toho's Yamato Takeru (1994). He died on 26 August 2021 in Mie Prefecture from multiple system atrophy.
