Biography
Weruche Opia is a British-Nigerian actress and entrepreneur. Born Reanne Weruche Opia on 11 April 1987 in Lagos, Nigeria, she moved to South East London at the age of 13. She holds a degree in drama and sociology from the University of the West of England, Bristol.
Opia began her career with a guest role in The Bill in 2010. She gained prominence as Cleopatra Ofoedo in the BBC comedy Bad Education (2014) and its 2015 film spin-off. She is known for her role as Terry Pratchard in the BBC miniseries I May Destroy You (2020), for which she received a British Academy Television Award nomination and a Black Reel Award. Other credits include Top Boy, Sliced (2019–2020), High Desert (2023), The Jetty (2024), the voice of Otin in Iwájú (2024) and Coretta Scott King in Genius (2024). She appears as Felicia in the series Bait (2026).
She is the founding CEO of the clothing line Jesus Junkie Clothing.
