Biography
Willi Bär is a German film producer. Born on 28 June 1951 in Hamburg, he began his career as a journalist, working as an editor at the weekly newspaper Die Tat until 1977 and then as chief editor of the film magazine Cinema until 1989. He has produced films since 1981.
In the 1990s Bär moved to Hollywood and worked with the SD-Holding company, contributing to numerous American productions often financed with German capital. His producer credits include Carlito's Way (1993), The Shadow (1994), The Real McCoy (1993) and The Contender (2000). He served as executive producer on The Virgin Suicides (1999), Jeepers Creepers (2001) and Prozac Nation (2001). Bär largely stepped back from executive producing around 2003 and returned to Germany.
