Biography
William Henry Bassett was an American actor who appeared in film, television and voice work from the 1960s onwards. He was born on 28 December 1935 in Evanston, Illinois, and died on 9 February 2025 in Los Angeles, California.
Bassett trained at Northwestern University. He is known for his role as Mr. Mills in The Karate Kid (1984). Other credits include The Towering Inferno (1974), House of 1000 Corpses (2003) as Sheriff Frank Huston, Black Dynamite (2009) as Captain Yancy, and voice roles such as Huu in Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005). He also hosted the game show Inquizition (1998–2001) and appeared in numerous television series including I Dream of Jeannie, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch and Arrested Development, as well as voicing commercials for Whataburger.
