Biography

William Davies is an English screenwriter and producer, sometimes credited as Will Davies or William Davis. He wrote the screenplay for the animated film How to Train Your Dragon (2010) and contributed to its 2025 live-action adaptation. His other credits include the screenplays for Twins (1988), Flushed Away (2006), Puss in Boots (2011) and Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile (2022), as well as the Johnny English franchise (2003–2018).

Davies was born in 1960 in England. He is a graduate of Mercersburg Academy and the University of Cambridge. He is the brother of television producer Michael Davies and opera singer Rebecca de Pont Davies. He has also worked as a producer on several of his projects and received Annie Awards for his writing on animated features.
