Biography
William McElroy Dozier was an American film and television producer, writer and actor. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, he graduated from Creighton University with a law degree before entering the entertainment industry.
In the late 1940s, Dozier co-founded Rampart Productions with his then wife Joan Fontaine. The company produced Letter from an Unknown Woman (1948), on which he served as executive producer. He later held executive roles at CBS and Screen Gems. In 1964 he founded Greenway Productions and developed the Batman television series (1966–1968), serving as executive producer; the series spawned the 1966 feature film on which he is credited as producer. He also produced The Green Hornet (1966–1967).
Dozier died in Santa Monica, California, in 1991.
