Biography
William LeBaron (1883–1958) was an American film producer. He began his career as a playwright, lyricist and librettist on Broadway, writing books and lyrics for musicals and plays staged in New York between 1911 and 1925. He later worked as managing editor of Cosmopolitan magazine and director general of Cosmopolitan Productions before moving to Hollywood in 1924.
LeBaron produced numerous films, including Cimarron (1931), which won the Academy Award for Outstanding Production, and comedies starring W. C. Fields such as It's a Gift (1934). He held executive production roles at studios including RKO Pictures (where he was succeeded by David O. Selznick), Paramount and 20th Century Fox. He was married to the British musical-comedy actress Mabel Hollins.
