Biography
William Rexer is an American cinematographer and member of the American Society of Cinematographers. Born in 1964, he grew up in a theatre family; his father was a producer and his mother ran a regional theatre company. He studied at Dartmouth College and began his career shooting documentaries and music videos before moving into features and television.
Rexer has shot numerous features including Prime (2005), The Accidental Husband (2008), Friends with Kids (2012) and Movie 43 (2013). He has collaborated repeatedly with director Edward Burns and worked on the series The Get Down (2016) with Baz Luhrmann. More recent credits include episodes of Hunters (2020), The Crowded Room (2023) and the film The Testament of Ann Lee (2025), directed by Mona Fastvold.
