Biography
Wings Hauser was an American actor, screenwriter, film director and musician. Born Gerald Dwight Hauser in Hollywood, California, on 12 December 1947, he made his screen debut in the 1967 war film First to Fight. He appeared in over 100 film and television productions from the late 1960s onwards.
Hauser gained notice for his role as the pimp Ramrod in Vice Squad (1982), for which he also performed the theme song. He played Lieutenant Byrd in the 1984 film A Soldier's Story. Other credits include Tough Guys Don't Dance (1987), for which he received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Male, and guest roles in series such as The Mentalist, Criminal Minds and Bones. He was the father of actor Cole Hauser.
