Biography
Wolf Kroeger is a German-born Canadian production designer and art director. Born on 27 May 1941 in Germany, he began his career designing for television in Australia before working as a stage designer for the Bavarian State Opera in Germany. He moved to Canada in the early 1970s, initially working as an art director in film, television and theatre.
His first production design credit was the 1977 horror film The Uncanny. He gained prominence through collaborations with directors including Robert Altman, for whom he designed the village set for Popeye (1980), Michael Cimino, Michael Mann and Brian De Palma. Kroeger received a BAFTA nomination for production design on The Last of the Mohicans (1992). He has won three Genie Awards for production design or art direction, for In Praise of Older Women (1978), The Bay Boy (1985) and Shadow of the Wolf (1993).
Among his other credits are First Blood (1982), Enemy at the Gates (2001), Equilibrium (2002), Eragon (2006), Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010) and the television series Black Sails (2014–2017).
