Biography
Wright King (1923–2018) was an American stage, film and television actor. He studied acting at the St Louis School of Theater, graduating in 1941, and served in the US Navy in the South Pacific during the Second World War. After further training in New York at the Actors Studio and the American Theatre Wing, he began his career in theatre and made his screen debut in 1949.
King appeared in the original Broadway production of A Streetcar Named Desire and played the young newspaper collector in the 1951 film adaptation. He had a recurring role as Jason Nichols in the television series Wanted: Dead or Alive (1958–1961) and guest roles in The Twilight Zone. Other film credits include Friendly Persuasion (1956), King Rat (1965), Planet of the Apes (1968) as Dr Galen, and Invasion of the Bee Girls (1973). His career spanned more than forty years until his retirement in 1987. He was the father of actor Meegan King.
