Biography
Yann Tiersen is a French musician and composer born on 23 June 1970 in Brest. He began classical training on the piano at age four and the violin at age six, studying at academies in Rennes, Nantes and Boulogne-sur-Mer, before adopting a wider range of instruments including accordion, guitar and toy piano.
Tiersen is known for film scores including Amélie (2001), Good Bye, Lenin! (2003) and The Dreamlife of Angels (1998). Tracks from his early studio albums were used in the Amélie soundtrack, for which he received the César Award for Best Music Written for a Film.
