Biography
Yōji Matsuda is a Japanese actor and voice actor. Born on 19 October 1967 in Setagaya, Tokyo, he joined the Himawari Theatre Group at the age of five and made his debut in the 1974 television drama Mother's Suzu.
He gained attention for his role in the 1983 TBS drama Family Game. Matsuda has voiced characters in several Studio Ghibli productions, including Asbel in Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984) and Ashitaka in Princess Mononoke (1997). His other voice credits include The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006). He has also appeared in live-action films such as The Hidden Blade (2004) and Character (2021), and worked on stage with directors including Yukio Ninagawa. In 2006 he taught acting at Tokyo Animation College.
