Biography
Yoshiaki Nishimura is a Japanese animation producer. He joined Studio Ghibli in 2002 after studying in the United States and worked on promotions and advertising for several of its films, including Howl's Moving Castle (2004), Tales from Earthsea (2006) and Ponyo (2008).
His first feature as producer was The Tale of The Princess Kaguya (2013), directed by Isao Takahata, which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature. He also produced When Marnie Was There (2014) for the studio. In 2015 he founded Studio Ponoc, where he has produced Mary and the Witch's Flower (2017), Modest Heroes (2018) and The Imaginary (2023). He has served as co-producer on The Boy and the Heron (2023).
