Biography
Yuri Borienko (born Jan Bolesław Kadlubowski) was a Polish wrestler and actor. He appeared in British films and television from the mid-1960s to the late 1980s, often in supporting roles as imposing or Russian characters, drawing on his wrestling background.
Borienko is best known for playing Grunther, a henchman of Ernst Stavro Blofeld, in the James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969). His other film credits include The Jigsaw Man (1983) as the Russian trainer and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987) as a Russian general. Television work encompassed guest roles in series such as The Persuaders! (1971), Department S (1969), The Professionals (1977) and Strangers.
He retired from acting after 1987 and later lived in Canada, where he died in 1999.
