Biography
Zahra Newman is a Jamaican-born Australian actress. She was born in Port Antonio, Jamaica, and moved to Australia at the age of 14. She graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2008.
Newman has an extensive stage career, appearing with companies including the Melbourne Theatre Company, Belvoir and the Sydney Theatre Company. Her screen credits include the films Thirteen Lives (2022), in which she played Captain Olivia Taft, Truth (2015) and Long Story Short (2021), and television series such as Wentworth, Childhood's End (2015), Neighbours and Heartbreak High (2022). She plays Liz in Insidious: Out of the Further (2026). She received a Green Room Award and two Helpmann Award nominations.
