Biography
Zakiyyah Alexander is an American writer, playwright and producer. A native New Yorker raised in Queens and Brooklyn, she holds an MFA in playwriting from Yale School of Drama. She is a former resident of New Dramatists and co-founder of The Kilroys, a collective addressing gender parity in theatre. Her plays include 10 Things To Do Before I Die (Second Stage) and The Etymology of Bird (Hip Hop Theater Festival).
Alexander has written for several television series. Her credits include episodes of Grey's Anatomy (2012), 24: Legacy (2017), Russian Doll (2022), La Brea (2021) and Accused (2023). She has served as executive producer and co-showrunner on grown-ish and as producer on La Brea and Russian Doll.
