Biography
Zoë Carroll Chao is an American actress and screenwriter. Born on 19 September 1985 in Providence, Rhode Island, she studied art history at Brown University and received an MFA from the graduate acting programme at the University of California, San Diego.
Chao has worked in theatre, including productions at La Jolla Playhouse and the Off-Broadway play Friend Art. She is known for her role as Isobel in the series Strangers (2017–2018) and as Zoë in The Afterparty (2022–2023). Film credits include Soo-Lin in Where'd You Go, Bernadette (2019), Tiffany in Senior Year (2022), Minka in Your Place or Mine (2023) and Jen in Nightbitch (2024). She has also appeared in Succession (2018) and voiced Nina Mazursky in Creature Commandos (2024).
