Biography
A.R. Rahman is an Indian composer, singer-songwriter and music producer. Born in Chennai in 1966, he trained in Western classical music at Trinity College of Music, London, and established the Panchathan Record Inn studio in Chennai. His film-scoring career began in the early 1990s with the Tamil film Roja.
Rahman has composed for numerous Indian and international films. His work includes Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001), Slumdog Millionaire (2008), for which he received two Academy Awards, and 127 Hours (2010). He composed the music for the 2026 film Ramayana.
