Biography
Simon Beaufoy is a British screenwriter. Born on 26 December 1966 in Keighley, West Riding of Yorkshire, he was educated at Malsis School, Ermysted's Grammar School and Sedbergh School. He read English at St Peter's College, Oxford, and graduated from the Arts University Bournemouth.
Beaufoy wrote the screenplay for the film The Full Monty (1997), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. He won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, as well as a Golden Globe and a BAFTA award, for Slumdog Millionaire (2008). His other screenplays include 127 Hours (2010), Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (2011), The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013), Everest (2015), Battle of the Sexes (2017) and the television series Trust (2018). He also created a 2023 television adaptation of The Full Monty.
